Growing up in Lagos, Nigeria, at 12 she’d scour her local tailor’s floor for fabric scraps to dress her dolls, inspired by her mother’s vibrant Iro and Buba and gele at Owambe celebrations. By 16, she enrolled in fashion school to learn the fundamentals of design and garment construction. After graduating, Didi spent years crafting bespoke pieces for family and friends, perfecting her eye for bold color, texture, and silhouette, until a transformative trip to Cape Verde in 2019 crystallized her vision for a travel-inspired ready-to-wear line. Despite a pandemic-delayed debut, she launched OAMA’s first collection in early 2021, and has since unveiled over 15 spirited drops, each weaving traditional heritage with modern aesthetics.
